Our Story

Our Buns of Maui Story

Our story begins in 1986 with a free trip to Hawaii. We won this trip in a corporate candy sales contest and fell in love with the Hawaiian islands immediately. We started vacationing in Maui for 2 weeks every Christmas.

From Ohio to Paradise
In 1997, we made the leap and moved from Ohio to Maui, opening Buns of Maui bakery. Our bakery soon became famous for our awesome cinnamon buns.

Growing Beyond the Bakery
Over the next 12 years, we added a line of Hawaii gifts and candy to our bakery offerings. With the surge in internet popularity, we added several computers to our bakery to provide internet access for our guests.

The Digital Journey
In 2005, we began selling Hawaiian items on eBay. Our internet business grew quickly, and we started selling on Amazon and our own website in 2006.

In 2009, we closed our bakery storefront and concentrated on our booming internet business.

Today
We now offer Hawaii-based products from 5 of the largest Hawaii wholesalers and distributors. In 2025, we expanded our selection to include Alaska gifts and souvenirs.
